Chelsea continues backing of Singha Football League

Chelsea Football Club has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of football in Thailand by teaming up once again with our club partners Singha on the country’s biggest amateur football competition, the Singha Football League.

From its beginnings in 2009, the seven-a-side competition has grown exponentially with more than 100,000 players expected to be involved with the 2017/18 tournament which kicks off with the regional rounds in early December.

The top teams in the regional competition will progress to the finals next March with the champions winning an exclusive grand prize of an all-expense trip to London to watch Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.  They will also enjoy an elite coaching experience at our Cobham training ground with some of our club legends.

Singha has been an official partner of Chelsea for the past seven years and our involvement with the tournament is an affirmation of the strong relationship between the two organisations.

Chris Townsend OBE, commercial director, Chelsea FC, said: ‘As long-term partners since 2010, Chelsea FC has worked hand in hand with Singha Corporation to help promote and develop football in Thailand. Through the Singha Football League, we have reached out to more than 100,000 players in the country during our involvement with the competition in the past three years.

‘We are delighted to have been a part of that process and are looking forward to welcoming the Singha Football League champions to train with us at Cobham, to develop their football skills even further with our world-class facility.’

Singha are also delighted with Chelsea’s continued commitment to their flagship football competition.

Bhurit Bhirombhakdi, chief executive officer, Boonrawd Trading Co Ltd, said: ‘The Singha Football League was born with the help of Singha Corporation and Singha Football club owners nationwide and is now the biggest amateur football competition in Thailand.

‘This will be the eighth edition of the tournament and we are delighted that our partners Chelsea Football Club, the reigning Premier League champions, are helping us to promote and develop amateur football in Thailand by taking our Singha Football League champion to train like professionals with the Chelsea coaches at their training ground at Cobham. Besides training at Chelsea, our champions will also watch a Premier League game at Stamford Bridge and have a chance to meet the Chelsea players.

‘I believe the 2017/18 edition of the Singha Football League will be successful and receive a great response from our Singha Football Club members and football fans all over Thailand as always.’

The regional rounds of the Singha Football League will start on 2 December with matches held weekly at five venues in Bangkok and nine throughout the rest of the country.

The final is slated to take place on 24 March 2018 at a venue in the Thai capital.
