Conte: Fight the frustration

Antonio Conte insists the fact Sunday’s opponents look set to take our Premier League crown away from us with a degree of comfort on their part is not something to accept lightly.

The Blues boss is not alone in believing this season’s title race was more or less over by the halfway stage and he says ways must be found to give Manchester City a stiffer challenge in the future.

‘Man City won the league by the finish of the first part of the season,’ Conte states. ‘This must be a great frustration for me, for my players and for the club. If your name is Chelsea, you have to try to fight until the end and, for this reason, we must have great frustration for this.

‘When you start the season, you start by trying to do your best, and I think we are doing our best, and we are trying to do everything for this club. We have to continue to do this but this league is very tough, and it will be especially tough in the future as there are a lot of teams that are improving in a fantastic way. We have to know this and to accept this and we have to try to find a new solution for the future.’

However, thinking about the future is for another day, especially with three important points up for grabs in Manchester on Sunday afternoon.

‘Now the most important thing is to be focused on the present and to try to give all of ourselves to try to get a place in the Champions League,’ said Conte. ‘It won’t be easy because there are a lot of competitors and at this moment, we must be focused on this.’
