About the Under-18s
Chelsea's Under-18s side is part of the development process for young players at the club.
They compete in the Under-18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup. The league campaign runs with a regionalised programme from August until February, with teams facing each other twice both home and away. Home games are played at the Cobham training ground.
It then splits into eight-team play-off groups for the final three months of the season based on final standings in the north and south divisions. The top four teams in the north and south divisions make up the elite play-off group, with the winners of that seven-game round crowned the national champions.
The FA Youth Cup campaign begins for the Blues with a third-round tie in December of each year. The prestigious competition was founded in 1952 and almost 500 teams take part every season. Chelsea have won the competition in 1960, 1961, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Early-round Youth Cup home ties are generally played at:
Aldershot Town Football Club
Electrical Services Stadium
In the later stages, home ties are played at Stamford Bridge. Away ties are generally played at the opposition's first team venue. The competition runs with single-leg knockout ties and both extra-time and penalties are used to determine a winner in the event of a draw. From the semi-final onwards, the ties are two-legged. The away goal rule is not used.
Please note: No spectators will be admitted for any development squad or Under-18s fixtures at the Cobham training ground.
