For the first time in the 2025/26 season we summarise how Chelsea players are faring out on loan, with news in August of several debuts and one young midfielder making his mark in three different competitions…
Leo Castledine – Huddersfield Town
It’s been an excellent start to life at Huddersfield Town for Leo Castledine. After scoring his spot-kick in a shootout as the Terriers upset Leicester City in the first round of the Carabao Cup, he netted a brilliant volley away to Sunderland as the League One side again prevailed on penalties.
Castledine has also made four league appearances, producing a stunning recovery tackle against Doncaster in a tight Yorkshire derby Huddersfield won 2-0. In the EFL Trophy, he bagged another goal and set up three more as the Terriers thrashed Newcastle’s Under-21s 6-2.
Teddy Sharman-Lowe – Bolton Wanderers
Elsewhere in League One, Teddy Sharman-Lowe has started each of Bolton’s league fixtures so far. He has kept one clean sheet, in a 2-0 victory against Plymouth, with the Trotters drawing their last four games 1-1.
Brodi Hughes – AFC Wimbledon
Brodi Hughes made his debut for AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday evening, although it was not the result he would have wanted as the Dons lost 5-1 at home to Stevenage in the EFL Trophy.
Aaron Anselmino – Borussia Dortmund
Heading over to the continent now, and Aaron Anselmino got his Borussia Dortmund career off to the perfect start as he played 76 minutes at centre-back in their comfortable 3-0 victory over Union Berlin just before the international break.
Mike Penders, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez – Strasbourg
Mike Penders and Kendry Paez have both made four appearances for Strasbourg to date, while Mamadou Sarr has played every minute and captained the side in the past two games.
Penders has kept two clean sheets so far, while Paez made his full debut in a 1-0 win over Nantes. The trio helped Strasbourg advance past Brondby in the UEFA Conference League play-off round. They will play Slovan Bratislava, Jagiellonia Bialystok, Hacken, Crystal Palace, Aberdeen and Breidablik in the league phase.
Deivid Washington – Santos
Deivid Washington made two sub appearances for Santos in August, the second of which came against Thiago Silva’s Fluminense. Santos are currently 16th in the Brazilian league with just over half the season gone.
