We summarise how the Chelsea players out on loan fared in December, with several of our youngsters continuing to thrive in League One and goalkeeper Ted Curd shining at Boreham Wood…

Ted Curd – Boreham Wood

It was a super month for Curd (pictured top, credit Noah Miller) and Boreham Wood as they won all four games they played, with the young goalkeeper registering three clean sheets. One came in the 3-0 victory against League Two Newport County in the FA Cup, with Wood aiming to cause another upset when they host Burton Albion in the third round on Saturday.

Leo Castledine – Huddersfield Town

Castledine’s impressive form continued as he scored five goals in six games for Huddersfield in League One in December, doubling his league tally for the season in just one month. It was no surprised he was named the Terriers' Player of the Month.

The midfielder’s goals ranged from close-range headers to pinpoint strikes from the edge of the box, showcasing his mix of attacking qualities. Huddersfield are up to fourth in League One.

Omari Kellyman – Cardiff City

It was another good month for Kellyman and Cardiff. The attacking midfielder featured in all six of the Bluebirds’ League One fixtures, of which they won five. Kellyman’s personal highlight was a goal scored in the 4-3 win over Doncaster Rovers.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan – Peterborough

Morgan was instrumental in Peterborough’s good form in December, netting his fourth league goal of the campaign in their 2-1 win away to Reading, and starting each of their three other victories in the month.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe – Bolton Wanderers

Sharman-Lowe remained a regular between the posts for Bolton in December as they won three games and lost two others to stay in the League One play-off places.

Mike Penders, Mamadou Sarr, Kendry Paez – Strasbourg

Strasbourg finished top of the league phase standings in the UEFA Conference League after defeating Aberdeen and Breidablik in their final two fixtures. In Ligue 1, they lost to Toulouse and drew 0-0 with Lorient in December.

Mike Penders (pictured top) played in each of those games, with Kendry Paez involved in three and Sarr starting the two Ligue 1 matches. The defender has since joined up with Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations, coming off the bench in their victory over Benin following Kalidou Koulibaly’s sending off.

Ishe Samuels-Smith – Swansea City

Samuels-Smith was limited to one substitute appearance in December as Swansea won 1-0 at Oxford United. The Swans are 17th in the Championship.

Aaron Anselmino – Borussia Dortmund

Anselmino played twice in December, suffering an injury in the second of those games, against Bodo-Glimt in the Champions League.

David Fofana - Fatih Karagumruk

Fofana netted in the 1-1 draw at home to Kocaelispor although Fatih Karaguruk remain rooted to the foot of the Turkish Super Lig. Their season resumes on Saturday 17 January.

Nicolas Jackson – Bayern Munich

The striker is also currently with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations. He netted twice in their 3-0 win over Botswana in the group stage and recorded an assist in the Round of 16 victory over Sudan. Senegal play Mali in the quarters on Friday.
