Chelsea will be looking to continue our fine record on the opening day of a Women’s Super League season when we meet Manchester City at Stamford Bridge for a blockbuster clash in September. Here we take a closer look at the facts and figures behind the Blues' matchday one history...

Last season saw us deliver a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in Sonia Bompastor's first-ever game in charge at Chelsea.

Our biggest win in an opening match is 6-0 against Yeovil in the 2017 Spring Series, and again against Bristol City in the 2017/18 campaign.

In terms of most-ever goals on the first day of the season, it's all even between nine different Chelsea players who all have two to their name, but Erin Cuthbert is the only member of that group who could potentially add to that tally this season.
