Xabi Alonso has made nine changes to his Chelsea side for this evening's Carabao Cup third-round tie against Leeds United at Stamford Bridge.

After navigating Luton Town in the last round, the Blues face Premier League opposition and an old foe for a place in the fourth round this evening.

Goalkeeper Mike Penders comes in for Emi Martinez, behind what is expected to be a back three of Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill, who Alonso has named as the Blues captain this evening.

In the wide positions, Malo Gusto is set to be deployed off the right flank with Pep Chavarria on the opposite flank. Valentin Barco starts in midfield and is set to be partnered by 16-year-old Reggie Watson, who makes his Blues debut.

Alonso has opted to rotate his entire frontline from our last outing against Arsenal. Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens replace Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, while Danny Welbeck – who scored in the last round against Luton Town – comes in for Joao Pedro.

Chelsea: Penders; Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill (c); Gusto, Watson, Barco, Chavarria; Estevao, Welbeck, Gittens

Chelsea substitutes: Martinez, Fofana, James, Hato, Quenda, Neto, Rogers, Palmer, Joao Pedro
