Miami is where Chelsea are calling home in the build-up to our Club World Cup round of 16 tie against Benfica. And our first training session in the Magic City took place on Thursday morning.

The scorching heat we endured in Philadelphia has been replaced by the trademark humidity of southern Florida, but that didn't impact the session overseen by Enzo Maresca.

Among those involved was Blues midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has discussed how he is enjoying the competition for places that exists within the squad.

‘It’s part and parcel of the game of being at a massive club,’ the 26-year-old said after helping us overcome ES Tunis in our final group-stage fixture.

‘You know there will be competition, but I thrive on that. If it were easy, anyone would play for this club.'

Work was undertaken in both the gym and out on the training pitches this morning. One of the drills tested our forwards' shooting, and Academy graduate Tyrique was among those finding the back of the net.

The 19-year-old got on the scoresheet in our win over ES Tunis and, in a wide-ranging interview, reflected on his journey into the Blues first team, his last 12 months, and what more is still to come.

He said: 'I'm proud [of what has been achieved so far] but I don't really take the time to think about it because everything's so fast-paced. I’m happy for myself, but I just want to keep growing and keep playing.

'Then I will see where it takes me, but I hope it's to a really high level.'

Tyrique's good friend and fellow Academy graduate Josh Acheampong also made his Club World Cup bow against ES Tunis.

He is looking forward to the challenge that awaits the Blues in the round of 16. The defender said: 'Benfica are a really big club, but every game in this competition is hard. So while we need to focus on the opponent, the most important thing is that we focus on ourselves.

‘The tournament is really exciting. We’re into the knockouts now and every single game is important. We just have to keep winning.'

The Blues will train tomorrow morning in Miami – the opening part of the session will be broadcast live on the Chelsea Official App and website – before we head to Charlotte ahead of our clash with the Portuguese giants.

Maresca's press conference is scheduled for Friday evening. You will be able to watch it live and we will bring you all the important news shortly after it has finished.
