Both Romeo Lavia and Maxence Lacroix came off the bench in UEFA Nations League fixtures on Friday night, while Josh Acheampong started for England Under-21s as they booked their place at next summer's European Championships.

Lavia, fresh from his first senior start on Sunday, was brought on an hour into Belgium's 3-0 victory at home to Turkey.

By that point Kevin De Bruyne had netted twice and another former Chelsea player, Romelu Lukaku, added the third with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining. Mike Penders was an unused sub.

In the same Nations League group, France were held to a 1-1 draw by Italy in Paris. Lacroix was introduced immediately after fellow centre-back Dayot Upamecano was shown a second yellow card with a few minutes of the game remaining, helping Les Bleus see out the point. Alessandro Bastoni had cancelled out Michael Olise's opener.

France are top of Group 1 qualifying in League A with seven points, one more than Belgium.

England Under-21s secured their spot at the 2027 Euros following a goalless draw with Slovakia in Stoke. Acheampong played the full 90 minutes and, in a game England dominated, had an arrowed drive well saved shortly before half-time.

England will face Ireland in Cork in their final group fixture on Tuesday, before looking to defend their title next summer.

At Under-19 level, Reggie Walsh and Chizarem Ezenwata started for England as they defeated the United States 2-1 in Spain. Both players were withdrawn in the second half, while goalkeeper Freddy Bernal was an unused sub as England extended their winning run to five games ahead of their final fixture of this window, against Belgium on Monday.
