Here's a round-up of all the deals that were concluded in the summer transfer window at Chelsea in 2025.
Chelsea Women new signings 2025
The 20-year-old USA international joined Chelsea on deadline day from NWSL side Angel City, signing a five-year contract with the Blues. A dynamic, pacy winger who can play on either flank, Thompson has already become a regular in the USWNT with 22 caps earned and three goals scored since making her debut at Wembley Stadium in October 2022.
The Germany Under-23 international joined the Blues from TSG Hoffenheim on 1 July 2025, signing a four-year deal. Alber is a versatile forward who can play on either flank or through the middle and is considered one of the most exciting young talents in her native Germany.
The Switzerland international goalkeeper drew plaudits after her superb performances at Women's Euro 2025, shortly after signing a four-year contract with Chelsea. Last season, she established herself as a first-team regular with Werder Bremen in the Frauen Bundesliga, starting all but one of their matches in 2024/25 as they achieved a seventh-place finish in the table.
Carpenter has arrived with an impressive CV, with two Champions League trophies and five domestic league titles across her time in Australia and France. The defender holds several records internationally, having made her senior debut for Australia at just 15, and has already travelled to three Olympic Games.
Becky Spencer - loan made permanent
The goalkeeper, who spent the final three months of the 2024/25 season with the Blues in a temporary switch from Tottenham Hotspur, completed a permanent transfer this summer by signing a one-year contract with Chelsea, with an option to extend until 2027.
Chelsea Women departures summer 2025
Ashley Lawrence
The Canadian international departed the club on 1 July, making a permanent move to OL Lyonnes. Lawrence joined Chelsea in 2023 and won four trophies in two seasons at the club, including the Women’s Super League crown in both years as a Blue.
Sophie Ingle
After 214 appearances, 12 goals, and 11 memorable trophies lifted, Chelsea legend Sophie Ingle left the Blues at the end of her contract this summer. Following her rehabilitation from an ACL injury, the Wales international appeared at Women's Euro 2025 for her country before completing a move as a free agent to WSL 2 side Bristol City.
Zecira Musovic
After four-and-a-half years as a Chelsea player, Zecira Musovic left the club at the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign. In February, Zecira announced she was pregnant and stepped away from first-team duties. She was offered a contract extension by the club, but has opted to begin a new chapter in her career at Malmo in her native Sweden.
Aimee Claypole
The young forward completed a permanent move to Nottingham Forest on 1 August, having come through our Academy system. Claypole enjoyed loan spells at Lewes and Swedish side Linkoping before spending time at Durham for the final part of the 2024/25 campaign.
Aniek Nouwen
The Dutch international returned to PSV Eindhoven, the club from which she arrived at Chelsea when she signed for us in 2021. The defender's first start for the Blues came against Leicester City in October 2021, before she scored her first two goals for Chelsea against the Foxes; one in the FA Cup and one in a Women’s Super League clash later that season.
Lucy Watson
The 21-year-old left the club this summer upon the expiration of her contract. Watson joined us in 2022 from Sheffield United and had loan spells at Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Ipswich Town.
Greta Humphries
The defender left the club upon the expiration of her contract this summer, having previously signed her first professional deal at the age of 18. The defender joined Bristol City on loan at the start of the last season, making seven appearances before being recalled and subsequently moving on loan to Charlton Athletic in January 2025.
Vera Jones
The 17-year-old will spend next season on loan at Women's Super League 2 side Bristol City, following the signing of her first professional contract in February 2025.
The 17-year-old midfielder will spend the season on loan at Crystal Palace in WSL 2, having signed her first professional contract with the club in November 2024. Brown made her Chelsea debut last term as a substitute appearance against Celtic in the Champions League group stage in 2024. She came off the bench in our 2-0 win over Tottenham in May 2025 to make her WSL bow.
Katie Cox
After 10 years with Chelsea, Cox penned her first professional contract with the Blues in August 2024, and last season was named on the bench for Champions League matches against Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona, as well as featuring among the substitutes at the end of the WSL campaign against both Tottenham and Liverpool.
The 19-year-old stopper is spending the season on loan at Aberdeen in the Scottish Women's Premier League 1.
Mia Fishel
The striker returned home to the USA this summer, leaving Chelsea as a two-time WSL champion and a Treble winner, with a total of four goals in 21 appearances for the Blues in all competitions. The forward joined Seattle of the National Women’s Soccer League, where she will play alongside Blues legend Ji So-Yun.
The goalkeeper joined Chelsea in January 2025, signing on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, having made over 50 club appearances in the Dutch league. Unfortunately, the youngster suffered a foot injury soon after signing for the Blues, but has now returned to fitness and will look to gain further experience this season in the WSL 2 with Newcastle United.
Also joining Newcastle United is Jorja Fox. Having signed professional terms with Chelsea in 2021, Fox has since gained experience at Charlton Athletic, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace, but has also unfortunately been on the receiving end of two separate ACL injuries. Now fully recovered, Fox makes the move to Tyneside to compete in the WSL 2 on a season-long loan.
Alejandra Bernabe
The Spanish defender made her Blues debut in December 2024, coming on for the final 15 minutes of a 1-1 draw with Leicester City. A further appearance from the bench against Durham in the League Cup followed, before she moved on loan to Liverpool in January for the remainder of last season. Having enjoyed that successful loan spell on Merseyside last season, Alejandra Bernabe joined the Reds on a permanent deal on deadline day.
After having signed a new contract this summer, midfielder Ashanti Akpan joined Southampton on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old has been with our academy since the age of seven, and made her first-team debut in March 2023. Having helped Birmingham City to a second-place finish last season, she now moves to England's south coast looking for further success in the WSL 2.
Bartel joined the Blues from Barcelona in the summer of 2024, signing a contract until 2027. The 21-year-old made her Chelsea debut in October, coming on as a second-half substitute against Twente in the Champions League group stage, and featured once more when we faced Celtic at home in the same competition. This season, she has returned to her native Spain for a season-long loan with Atletico Madrid in Liga F.
The 21-year-old forward joined the Blues on a four-year deal in the summer of 2024 from Paris FC, where she had already amassed 60 senior club appearances and picked up the Division 1 Feminine Young Player of the Year award. Last season, Ribadeira returned to Paris FC on loan for the first half of the campaign, before joining Everton in the WSL in January. The versatile attacker now moves to FC Fleury 91 on a season-long loan.
Maelys Mpome
Mpome joined Chelsea in 2024, following a four-year stint at Montpellier in her native France. In February 2025, the defender made her first Women’s Super League appearance against Everton, before going on to appear on four more occasions during the remainder of the campaign as we went on to win a domestic Treble in 2024/25. The defender has now joined WSL side Brighton and Hove Albion on a permanent basis.

Ashanti Akpan
Having joined the Blues in August 2013, Akpan has been with the club since the age of seven. During that time, she has lifted silverware, including the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22 and the FA WSL Academy Cup in 2022/23. Akpan signed her first professional deal at the halfway point of the 2023/24 season, and in June 2025, Chelsea exercised an option to extend her contract by a further year.
